Summary Highlights of the Meeting
UNFCCCTuesday, 20 August 2013

The Second Meeting of Experts on Long-term Finance convened for its second and last day on Tuesday 20 August 2013, in Bonn, Germany.

After hearing an overview of this second day by the Co‐Chairs, participants engaged in the third plenary session of the meeting, which focused on parameters for identifying pathways for mobilizing scaled‐up climate finance. Three presentations by keynote speakers representing developed and developing countries, as well as civil society, were followed by an informal and interactive segment with participants. Two break-out groups then convened to discuss the issue in more detail. In the afternoon, participants heard a report of the break‐out groups held throughout the meeting, which was followed by a closing plenary that consisted of a summary delivered by the LTF Co-Chairs.

Following this meeting, a final wrap-up event is expected to take place in Incheon, Republic of Korea, in September, which will be followed by the submission of a report by the LTF Co-Chairs on the outcomes of the extended work programme at COP 19 in Warsaw, Poland, in November 2013. This report will inform the ministerial dialogue on finance at COP 19.
