The 35th UN-Water Meeting brought together representatives from UN-Water Members and Partners to advance progress on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 (clean water and sanitation).
During the open session of the 35th UN-Water Meeting, UN-Water Members, Partners with Special Status, Partners and Observers discussed and coordinated opportunities for their respective organizations. Agenda items included:
- Preparations for the UN 2023 Conference on Water;
- Integrated Monitoring Initiative for SDG 6 (IMI-SDG 6) gender contextualisation work; and
- Planning for World Water Day and World Toilet Day 2022, including update on the 2022 Groundwater Summit, and the UN World Water Development Report.
The open session of the 35th UN-Water Meeting took place online from 4-5 October 2021. On Wednesday, 6 October 2021, representatives from UN-Water Members and Partners with Special Status convened for a closed session focused on UN-Water procedural matters.
UN-Water plays a coordinating role within the UN, to ensure that the UN family “delivers as one” in response to water-related challenges. The overarching focus of UN-Water’s Members and Partners is to support UN Member States to sustainably manage water and sanitation.
