The forty-second Committee on World Food Security (CFS), established an Open-Ended Working Group on nutrition (OEWG) to consider CFS ’ role in advancing nutrition. The OEWG on nutrition will convene three times in 2016, with meetings scheduled 14 January, 24 February and 29 April. The OEWG will report to CFS 43 in October 2016 and CFS 44 in October 2017.

On 14 January the OEWG on nutrition will meet to discuss proposals for the area of focus of the High Level Panel of Experts Report on Nutrition and Food Security, which will be finalized for CFS 44. It will also discuss proposals for potential areas for CFS further involvement in nutrition and review the workplan of the OEWG on nutrition.

On 24 February and 29 April the OEWG will meet to discuss proposals for a CFS workstream on nutrition. Proposals will be presented for endorsement at CFS 43 after review by the Bureau, in consultation with the Advisory Group.

The OEWG on nutrition will convene at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy, via webcast.
