The tenth session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF10) entered its final day on Friday, 19 April. Throughout the day contact groups convened under Working Group (WG) I and WGII to resolve outstanding issues, particularly on forests and economic development (WGI), and means of implementation (MOI) for sustainable forest management (SFM) and emerging issues (WGII). As of 6:00pm WGI and WGII have not reconvened.
WGI reconvened at 6:00pm to discuss the outcomes of the contact group and further discuss unresolved issues, WGI adjourned at 6:15pm, pending agreed text in WGII on emerging issues and further consultations in the contact group.

The tenth session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF10) continued on Thursday, 18 April. In the morning, following informal group consultations, delegates in Working Group (WG) I continued the second reading of the revised draft text. Delegates in WGII reconvened in informal groups throughout the morning, addressing the Ad Hoc Expert Group (AHEG) process and means of implementation (MoI) for sustainable forest management (SFM).
In the afternoon, WGI reconvened for the third reading of the revised draft text. WGII met briefly for an update from the informal groups, followed by a resumption of discussions in the informal groups. In the evening, a brief stocktaking plenary convened to assess progress of the WGs. The work of both WGs continued late into the night.

The tenth session of the UN Forum on Forests continued on Wednesday, 17 April. In the morning, Working Group (WG) I convened for the second reading of the revised draft text. It then adjourned for further consultations by negotiating blocs and resumed during lunch. Under WGII, early morning informal consultations convened on the Ad Hoc Expert Group (AHEG). The WG met for an update on these informal consultations, which continued thereafter.
In the afternoon, WGI continued the second reading of the revised draft text, while negotiating blocs continued informal consultations on the text at the same time. WGII commenced the second reading of the revised draft text, while a drafting group addressed the issue of the 2015 review of the IAF. Negotiations in both WGs continued late into the evening.
Side events took place during the lunch period on advances in Amazon cooperation on deforestation monitoring and the launch of a new initiative - Turkey's Forests for the Future We Want.

The 10th session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF10) continued on Monday, 15 April. Working Group I (WGI) met throughout the day, discussing forests and economic development in the morning, and assessment of progress made on the implementation of the Forest Instrument and towards the achievement of the four Global Objectives on Forests (GOFs), regional and subregional inputs, and enhanced cooperation on policy and programme coordination, including the provision of further guidance to the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF), in the afternoon. Working Group II (WGII) discussed emerging issues in the morning, and means of implementation (MoI) for sustainable forest management (SFM) in the afternoon. In both working groups the zero draft of the decision text was introduced. Member States made general comments on the text and then commenced with the first reading of the text.
Side events took place during the lunch period on forestry activities in Turkey and on good business - making private investment work for forests.

Working Group I met throughout the day, discussing forests and economic development in the morning, and assessment of progress made on the implementation of the Forest Instrument and towards the achievement of the four Global Objectives on Forests (GOFs), regional and subregional inputs, and enhanced cooperation on policy and programme coordination, including the provision of further guidance to the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF), in the afternoon. Working Group II also met throughout the day and discussed means of implementation (MoI) for sustainable forest management (SFM) in the morning, and emerging issues in the afternoon. A stocktaking plenary took place in the evening to review progress.
Side events took place during lunch and in the evening on: reporting to UNFF10; dry forests; realizing the development and investment potential of locally controlled forestry; certification as a screening tool for investment in the forest sector; and social and economic considerations on reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation and the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of forest carbon stocks in developing countries (REDD+), biodiversity and people.

UNFF10 continued on Tuesday, 9 April. In the morning, participants convened in two roundtables on forests and economic development and the Rio+20 outcome, the post-2015 development agenda and IAF. Delegates then convened in plenary for a high-level interactive dialogue with the heads of the member organizations of the CPF, followed by the resumption of the Ministerial Segment, which continued throughout the afternoon. A number of side events also took place during lunch, including on: forests and economic development; preview of a new global forest monitoring partnership; opportunities for forests in a green economy; forests and landscape restoration, and SFM for multiple benefits.

The 10th session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF10) opened today in Istanbul, Turkey. The meeting convened in plenary throughout the day. In the morning session the plenary addressed the organization of work, the assessment of progress made on the implementation of the Forest Instrument, and forests and economic development. The Ministerial Segment of the meeting also opened and included a speech by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Prime Minister, Turkey. In the afternoon, the plenary considered emerging issues and MoI for SFM, and the delegates heard statements as part of the Ministerial Segment.
