Day 6: 11 March

Delegates kicked off the second week of UNFF-2 with a brief morning plenary, during which they heard reports from the Chairs of the Working Groups, and adopted an organization of work. Participants then worked in two separates groups, one discussing the ministerial statement, and the other to continue negotiating the draft terms of reference of the Ad Hoc expert groups. Delegates later decided to continue negotiating the draft terms of reference of the Ad Hoc experts group, and to delay work on criteria for evaluation of the effectiveness of the UNFF until tomorrow.

< Hossein Moeni Meybodi (Iran), Chair of Working Group I, reported on the group's accomplishments last week. He stated that the group completed its work on agenda items 3b, Progress in Implementation, and heard a report of the CPF. He expressed the group's readiness for the next round of discussions and negotiations on draft outcomes of the meeting.

< Chair Ositadinma Anaedu (Nigeria) reported that Working Group II was faced with a large quantity of draft text but felt confident that consensus could be achieved. He noted that the contact group on criteria for evaluation of the effectiveness of the UNFF had not yet met, but would report back to Working Group II once it completes it work.

G-77/China said it required more time to consider text, and that it could not attend more than two meetings at any given time . He agreed with the Chair's proposition to prioritize work on the ministerial declaration and on the terms of reference of the Ad Hoc experts group, and save discussion on the criteria for evaluation of the effectiveness of the UNFF for later in the week.

< Delegates decided to continue negotiating the draft terms of the reference of the Ad Hoc expert groups, foregoing an originally scheduled meeting of the informal consultation on criteria for evaluation of the effectiveness of the UNFF.
Stefan Leiner (Germany), Chair of the informals on criteria for evaluation, gave a short report on the work that the group will undertake tomorrow.
