Fifth session of the International Renewable Energy Agency’s (IRENA) Assembly and Associated Events

The fifth session of the International Renewable Energy Agency’s (IRENA) Assembly will be held from 17-18 January 2015 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. During plenary sessions, participants will consider matters, including: the annual report; renewable power generation costs; off-grid renewable energy deployment; renewable energy and climate change; and financing of the agency. Ministerial roundtables will address the transformation of the power sector and energy security. Other assembly events and meetings will take place from 16-18 January.
The Abu Dhabi Sustainability week will take place from 17-24 January 2015 bringing together world leaders, policy makers, scientists, business leaders and academics to discuss the energy and sustainability challenges of the future. Anchored by the World Future Energy Summit (WFES), the 2015 programme will feature a series of events conferences and exhibitions. Scheduled IRENA events during the week will take place from 19-21 January and address, inter alia: funding opportunities for renewable energy projects in developing countries through the IRENA/Abu Dhabi fund for development project facility; financing small scale renewable energy projects; renewable energy and the water, energy and food nexus; financial instruments and approaches to address the risks and barriers of investing in renewable energy; and global challenges to renewable energy knowledge.
