Friday, 29 November 2002

On Friday, delegates adopted 46 decisions, including replenishment of the Multilateral Fund for the triennium 2003-2005 with US$ 573 million. UNEP Deputy Executive Director Shafqat Kakakhel expressed profound satisfaction at the success of the meeting, noting that this should dispel doubts about the strength of international solidarity. Highlighting the "vitality and dynamism" of delegates, Executive Secretary González reported that MOP-14/COP-6 had enjoyed participation by over 50 Ministers. COP-6 President Horwitz gaveled the meeting to close at 8:15 pm.

After a week of intense negotiations, the Plenary adopted the draft decision on the 2003-2005 replenishment of the Multilateral Fund (UNEP/OzL.Pro.14/CRP.17) that contains the budget for 2003-2005 of US$573 millions, of which: US$76million comes from funds not allocated during 2000-2002; US$23 millions from interest accruing to the Fund and other sources during 2003-2005; and US$474 millions from the scale of contributions for the Multilateral Fund replenishment.
