 The Pan-African Conference on Inequalities in the Context of Structural Transformation is being convened within the context of the African Union’s Agenda 2063, a vision and action plan to ensure positive socioeconomic transformation within the next 50 years, as well as the UN-led post-2015 development agenda process. It aims to create a platform for dialogue on suitable policy options for national and regional levels to tackle these issues. It will also explore partnerships at a global level, as well as within ongoing intergovernmental negotiations to advance policy options. Through these discussions, the Conference expects to place African inequality issues at the core of national and regional policy discourse on the continent. The Conference also expects that these discussions will promote a shared understanding of the nature, scope and drivers of inequality.
Hosted by the Government of Ghana, the Pan-African Conference is scheduled to convene from 28-30 April 2014, in Accra, Ghana.
