Second Session of the Preparatory Committee for the 2012 UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD)

Highlights for Tuesday, 8 March 2011
The Second Preparatory Committee meeting for the 2012 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD or Rio 2012) met  on Tuesday, 8 March 2011 at UN Headquarters in New York for the second and final day. Delegates discussed the institutional framework for sustainable development throughout the day. Late in the afternoon, delegates adopted by consensus the draft decision on the draft outcome document.

Co-Chair Park, in closing the meeting, said the next steps include: making a Co-Chair’s summary available by the end of next week, the Bureau’s preparation of a zero draft outcome document, five regional preparatory meetings, and events organized by more than 10 countries. He declared PrepCom 2 closed at 6:41 pm.
