10 Million Trees, 10 Million Souls | COP 21 | IISD/ENB+ Video Coverage | IISD Reporting Services | International Institute for Sustainable Development

On Monday, 30 November 2015, the first day of the Paris Climate Change Conference 2015, the Government of Benin and the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) hosted a side event on Benin’s ambitious new reforestation programme “10 Million Trees, 10 Million Souls,” which aims to plant one tree for each of Benin’s 10 million citizens.

The event, which featured presentations by Benin’s Minister of Environment and UNECA, provided some insight into the multiple benefits that reforestation can offer, including climate change adaptation and mitigation.

This video was produced by Peter Wood and filmed/edited by Ben Crowe.
