The fourth meeting of Conference of the Parties (COP4) to the Stockholm Convention high-level segment convened in Geneva, Switzerland on Thursday, 7 May 2009.
The high-level segment was opened by a performance by a Swiss folkloric group. During the morning plenary session, delegates heard statements by ministers and, during the afternoon, statements by heads of delegation. During the afternoon, ministers attended small roundtable discussions.
Contact groups on new chemicals, financial resources and technical assistance, and budget convened throughout the day. A small Friends of the Chair group met with Anne Daniel (Canada) on non-compliance throughout the day.
