MALAYSIA:

Stating its goal to transform the country into a center of environmental excellence, Malaysia outlined its concerns and activities regarding biodiversity. Following UNCED, Malaysia's Prime Minister hosted a national conference on sustainable development and, based on this, the development of a national strategy is well under way. Malaysia cited the unhindered movement of scientists through developing countries as an issue of paramount importance and, in this regard, proposed that a paper exploring the regulation of access to biological resources be tabled for discussion at the next session of the ICCBD.
