The fourth Africa Carbon Forum continued its discussions today on carbon market issues at the United Nations Conference Centre in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Today’s sessions included Plenary sessions on promotion of low carbon development (LCD) strategies and nationally appropriate mitigation activities (NAMAs), as well as low carbon energy access in Africa, together with two Round Table discussions on finding the right match for public and private financing of NAMAS and innovative financial instruments for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Two Workshops were conducted on how suppressed demand can aid energy access improvement and pilot NAMAs experiences in Africa, and participants voiced their opinions in a combined Policy Dialogue session on the future of carbon markets and CDM in policy context. The day started with two Training Sessions on coordinating/managing entity training for Programme of Activity (PoA) coordinators under the CDM as well as carbon and sustainable agriculture land management. Four Side Events were also convened throughout the day.
