The United Nations International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) was held from 5-13 September 1994 in Cairo, Egypt. During this two week period world leaders, high ranking officials, representatives of non-governmental organizations and United Nations agencies gathered to agree on a Programme of Action.
The United Nations General Assembly has held debate on this matter. The Earth Negotiations Bulletin has published a summary of this debate as Vol. 3 No. 8.
During the follow-up to the Conference the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) will be placing links from this page to the documentation available on- line that is related to the Conference. This will include:

The Third and last Preparatory Committee meeting was held in New York at United Nations headquarters from 4-22 April, 1994. A wealth of information is available on this meeting, including the official documentation, government statements, UN agency statements and NGO statements.
