Delegates in plenary

POPRC-11 The eleventh meeting of the Persistent Organic Pollutants Review Committee (POPRC-11) to the Stockholm Convention opened on Monday at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, Italy. During the morning, POPRC members met in pre-session meetings.

Chair Estefânia Gastaldello Moreira (Brazil) opened the meeting in the afternoon. Executive Secretary Rolph Payet welcomed participants, reminding them of the science-based approach and “spirit of working together” that underpins the POPRC’s work. After adopting the agenda and organization of work, participants began consideration of technical matters. The Committee discussed the draft risk management evaluation (RME) for decabromodiphenyl ether (commercial mixture, c-decaBDE) and established a contact group to further discuss the draft risk management evaluation. The contact group convened in the evening.
