CITES AC28 The twenty-eighth meeting of the Animals Committee (AC28) of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) opens in Tel Aviv, Israel on Sunday, 30 August 2015 and will continue through Thursday, 3 September 2015.

During AC28, participants will consider: snake trade and conservation management, including the IUCN Red List assessments of Asian snake species; conservation and management of sharks and the implementation of Resolution Conf. 12.6 (Rev. CoP16); regional cooperation on the management of and trade in the queen conch; and the Periodic Review of several species included in Appendices I and II.

AC28 will also consider proposals for possible consideration at the seventeenth Conference of the Parties (CoP17), including the draft proposal to remove the zero quota for trade in wild specimens of the Mexican population of Morelet’s crocodile for commercial purposes; and the proposal to list the earless monitor lizard in Appendix I in Malaysia.
