Sixty-fifth meeting of the Standing Committee (SC65) of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES)

CITES SC65The Sixty-fifth meeting of the Standing Committee (SC65) of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) opens in Geneva, Switzerland on Monday, 7 July 2014 and will continue through Friday, 11 July 2014.

During SC65, participants will consider many documents, including: the report of the Secretariat, highlighting the concerns about the illegal trade in pangolins and their parts and derivatives; the report on Asian Big Cats and the illegal trade in cheetahs; the CoP16 decision to establish a working group to review Resolution Conf. 10.9 on consideration of proposals for the transfer of African elephant populations from Appendix I to appendix II; the document on disposal of ivory stock, recommending that all countries with ivory stockpiles held by government destroy all ivory; Madagascar’s report on the implementation of the Action Plan on Malagasy ebonies and Malagasy rosewoods; and reports on strategic matters, such as access to finance, including the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
