|
The morning plenary
discussion on forests and climate change highlighted the need
for country-level assessments, the carbon sequestration and
substitution roles of forests, an integrated approach to climate
change adaptation and mitigation strategies, and the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Fourth
Assessment Report's chapter on ecosystem services provided by
forests and the impacts of climate change. |

The parallel policy
dialogues addressed improving forest law enforcement and
governance, the new forest policy of the Russian Federation, the
