2004 will convene in Bonn, Germany from 1-4 June, 2004. German
Chancellor Gerhard Schröder announced that Germany would host this
International Conference for Renewable Energies at the World Summit
on Sustainable Development in September 2002 in Johannesburg.
The Conference is expected to gather over 1000 participants from
governments, UN and other international and non-governmental
organizations, civil society and the private sector. The Conference
will be conducted through Plenary sessions, a Ministerial Segment
and Roundtables, and numerous side events and exhibitions.
Participants are scheduled to address the following themes: the
formation of enabling political framework conditions allowing the
market development of renewable energies; increasing private and
public financing in order to secure reliable demand for renewable
energies; and human and institutional capacity building, and
coordination and intensification of research and development.
Conference outcomes are expected to include a political declaration,
an International Action Programme, and policy recommendations for
renewable energies. |
