UN Climate Change Conference – Antalya, November 2026
Global conflicts, economic uncertainty, energy security concerns and growing distrust among countries mean that multilateral cooperation continues to be strained. These tensions have been affecting climate change negotiations over the past year and will likely continue to influence what governments are willing to agree to at the UN Climate Change Conference in Antalya, which will mark the beginning of the second Global Stocktake under the Paris Agreement. Parties will also have to address mitigation, adaptation, finance, and just transition, among other issues.

After months of stalemate, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will convene once again with the aim of resolving a challenge that has plagued every meeting of the current cycle: the timeline for delivery of the components of its Seventh Assessment Report on the state of knowledge on climate change. Tthe Panel must reach agreement on the work plan, as its ability to approve the budget for the remainder of this cycle hinges on the anticipated workload and other requirements.
