CFS 44 The 44th session of the Committee on World Food Security is expected to address a series of items arising from its Multi-year Programme of Work under the following themes: CFS and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); CFS and nutrition; and policy convergence. Regarding the Committee’s work in the context of the SDGs, CFS 44 is expected to consider the state of food security and nutrition in the world, lessons learned from implementing the 2030 Agenda, and CFS and the 2030 Agenda. Items relating to CFS and nutrition include a report on nutrition and food systems, reporting on the second International Conference on Nutrition (INC 2), good practices and lessons sharing for improved nutrition, and CFS advancing nutrition including the Decade of Action on Nutrition. The Committee is expected to discuss policy convergence regarding: sustainable forestry for food security and nutrition; urbanization, rural transformation and implications for food security and nutrition; and the outcome of the Forum on Women’s Empowerment. The meeting will further consider CFS workstreams and activity updates, independent evaluation of CFS, and critical and emerging issues for food security and nutrition.
