The 10th Session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF10) will convene from 8-19 April 2013, in Istanbul, Turkey. The meeting is expected to address a range of issues namely: an assessment of progress made on the implementation of the non-legally binding instrument on all types of forests and towards the achievement of the four global objectives on forests; regional and subregional inputs; forests and economic development (FaED) – forest products and services, national forest programmes and other sectoral policies and strategies, reducing risks and impacts of disasters, and benefits of forests and trees to urban communities; emerging issues; multi-stakeholder dialogue; enhanced cooperation and policy and programme coordination, including the provision of further guidance to the Collaborative Partnership on Forests; means of implementation (MoI) for sustainable forest management; and the forum trust fund.
The meeting will open with the two day Ministerial Segment, taking place from 8-9 April, including roundtables on Forests and Economic Development and on the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD or Rio+20) Outcome, Post-2015 UN Development Agenda and International Arrangement on Forests, as well as Ministerial Statements. The work of the meeting is expected to be organized into two Working Groups, with Working Group 1 addressing FaED, progress on the implementation of the forest instrument, regional and sub-regional inputs and enhanced cooperation. Working Group 2 will address MoI, emerging issues and Forest Law Enforcement and Governance (FLEG) as a cross-cutting issue.
