The 2015 meeting of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) concluded on Wednesday, 8 July. In the morning and afternoon the ministerial segment of the HLPF convened in moderated discussions on "Reviewing and monitoring progress—what have we learned and how can it advance implementation" and "realizing the SDGs--matching ambitions with commensurate means of implementation (MOI)-resources, technology and capacities. The general debate of the high-level week under ECOSOC continued in the morning.

During lunch side events took place on: multi-stakeholder partnerships beyond remittances—sustainable entrepreneurship for local communities in post-2015; outcomes of regional consultations on sustainable development and the post-2015 development agenda in Asia and the Pacific; League of Arab States—platform for follow up and review to ensure achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs) in the Arab Region; and the municipalization process of SDGs--the role of civil society.

The HLPF was closed by ECOSOC Vice-President Mohamed Khaled Khiari, Tunisia, following a brief closing plenary at 4:51 pm.

The 2015 meeting of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) continued on Tuesday, 7 July. In the morning and afternoon the ministerial segment of the HLPF undertook moderated dialogues on “Communicating and implementing a universal agenda at home” and “Our HLPF in the next 15 years.” In the afternoon, the general debate of the high-level week commenced under ECOSOC.

Side events took place during lunch on: delivering on sustained and sustainable growth—PAGE and national initiatives for inclusive green economy; expectations for civil society involvement in the implementation of the post-2015 development agenda; moving forward after September 2015—implementation in countries and review of progress; and social justice and the rule of law across the SDGs.

The 2015 meeting of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) continued on Monday, 6 July. The Ministerial segment of the HLPF commenced with an opening plenary, the launch of the Millennium Development Goal (MDGs) report and messages from the first part of the meeting. In the morning and afternoon panels addressed “A transformative integrated agenda—how can governments, societies and the UN rise to the challenge” and “Thinking ahead—emerging issues that will matter in the future.”

Side events took place during lunch on: preparing for post-2015 implementation—early findings; more than words—how corporate reporting can help attain the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and enrich an implementation and review framework; UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) peer review mechanisms—lessons learned and opportunities for contributing to the implementation and review of SDGs; and policy-coherence of SDGs—a natural resource perspective.

The 2015 meeting of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) continued on Thursday, 2 July 2015. In the morning and afternoon, moderated discussions addressed: “Sustainable consumption and production (SCP)”; “Investing in the future we want—what will it require”; and “Tracking progress through existing mechanisms.” A brief wrap up session brought the first part of the HLPF to a close.

Side events took place during lunch on: the coalition of Central African regional CSOs in the implementation of the sustainable development goals (SDGs); building effective bottom-up partnerships for SDGs; realizing the SDGs by 2030—crucial entry points for communicating the SDGs and climate change for transformative citizen engagement; and SCP/sustainable lifestyles.

The 2015 meeting of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) continued on Wednesday, 1 July. Moderated discussions addressed: “The SAMOA Pathway—translating vision to action”; “Reaching out to the world—communicating the agenda”; and “Reaching out to the world—training and learning for sustainable development.” During lunch, side events took place on: human mobility in the context of the post-2015 development agenda—pespectives from the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD); transparency, accountability and participation—building a post-2015 review architecture fit for purpose; integrating three levels of accountability for a robust and effective review mechanism at HLPF; and the Global Sustainable Development Report (GDSR) 2015—highlights and the way forward.

The 2015 meeting of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) continued on Tuesday, 30 June. A morning meeting addressed “Reinforcing Major Groups and other stakeholders’ participation.” In the morning and afternoon moderated discussions took place on “Changing approaches to policy making: the role of the SDGs” and “Regional support to national action.” During lunch, side events took place on: strengthening the engagement of civil society organizations in the HLPF and beyond; implementing the post-2015 development agenda - what will it take at the country level; and peer review - a tool for the implementation and follow up for the post-2015 development agenda.

The 2015 meeting of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) continued on Monday, 29 June. A morning meeting with member states addressed “How science can inform policy making.”

In the morning and afternoon, moderated discussions addressed: “Supporting national action through HLPF outcomes”; “Keeping science involved in SDG implementation”; and “The Global Sustainable Development Report (GSDR) as a bridge between the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the scientific communities.”

During lunch side events took place on: where we stand - lessons learned from the SD 2015 HLPF Consultation; peoples’ voices data playground; a perspective from the ground - the SDG Fund’s integrated approach towards sustainable development; and empowering grassroots economy, future of sustainable development.

The third meeting of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF 2015) opened on Friday, 26 June 2015, at UN Headquarters in New York. An opening plenary adopted the agenda of the HLPF, followed by two moderated dialogues on “Shaping the world for 2030: from vision to transformative action” and “The role of business in implementation.”

Side events took place during lunch on: HLPF for the future we want; civil society engagement and participation in a sustainable development era; and from Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to sustainable development goals (SDGs) - unfinished agenda for education in emergencies.
