On Saturday, in the morning, IPBES-2 delegates met in a contact group to conclude consideration of the rules and procedures. In the afternoon and evening, they met in Plenary to adopt decisions on, inter alia: rules and procedures; institutional arrangements; and the work programme, including on the work programme for the period 2014–2018, the Terms of Reference for the task forces on capacity-building, knowledge and data, and indigenous and local knowledge. Due to lack of sufficient time to discuss the strategies on communications and outreach, and stakeholder engagement, delegates agreed to take these issues up again at IPBES-3.
Following closing statements, Chair Zakri said the "Antalya Consensus” is a testimony of the power of collective ambition to face biodiversity challenges. He highlighted that now IPBES is "on its feet" and hoped that from now on "it will walk very fast." He further thanked the Government of Turkey for their great hospitality, which contributed to making the meeting a success. Thanking participants for their collaborative spirit, Chair Zakri drew the meeting to a close at 7:37 pm. |
