Third session of the Plenary of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES-3)

The third session of the Plenary of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES-3) will be held in Bonn, Germany, from 12 to 17 January 2015.
Delegates will convene to discuss, inter alia, the work programme, the rules of procedure and the financial and budget arrangements. Under the work programme, issues to be addressed include: the task forces on capacity-building, knowledge and data and indigenous and local knowledge systems; guides on assessments, policy support tools and methodologies, and preliminary guides on scenario analysis and modelling and the conceptualization of values; and scoping documents for regional assessments, land degradation and restoration and the conceptualization of values. Delegates will also deal with the communications and stakeholder engagement strategies.
Prior to IPBES-3, stakeholder days will be convened by the IPBES secretariat. The stakeholder days provide an opportunity for stakeholders to learn more about the IPBES process, and to discuss how to get engaged and support the IPBES work programme. The events are an opportunity to improve the stakeholder engagement process in IPBES, notably through the further development of the stakeholder engagement strategy.
