Stakeholder Days Prior to the Third Session of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES-3)

Stakeholder Days prior to IPBES-3 opened on Saturday, 10 January 2015, at the Museum Koenig in Bonn, Germany. Following welcome remarks from IPBES Executive Secretary Anne Larigauderie, and Wolfgang Wägele, Director, Museum Koenig, participants held an exchange with the IPBES Secretariat on progress in implementing the IPBES Work Programme and the draft stakeholder engagement strategy.

Participants then convened in the first of three break out sessions for a more in-depth discussion on key issues for stakeholders. The discussions covered: stakeholder coordination during IPBES-3, including feedback on the draft stakeholder engagement strategy, building on lessons learned from previous IPBES Plenary sessions; how to coordinate activities with a diverse stakeholders during intersessional periods; and some concrete proposals for stakeholder contributions to the IPBES Work Programme.
