IRENA The fourth session of the IRENA Assembly opened on Saturday morning. The Assembly elected Pedro Joaquín Coldwell, Secretary of Energy of Mexico, as President of its fourth session.

Agenda items taken up on Saturday included: organization of work; implementation of the 2013 work programme and budget; the work programme and budget for 2014-15; a signing ceremony for the IRENA Global Atlas Initiative; IRENA Council Chair's report; IRENA's annual publication REthinking energy; the IRENA Renewable Energy and Jobs Report; and RE-map 2030 – IRENA's Global Roadmap to 2030.

The side event on Renewable Energy Science, Technology and Innovation considered ways in which science, technology and innovation can encourage the deployment of renewable energy technology beyond current estimates, and innovations within the solar, biofuel and ocean technologies sectors.

Side event on the Global Renewable Energy Atlas

The side event on the Global Renewable Energy Atlas discussed major achievements in 2013 and the path forward. It also addressed partnerships with the private sector and existing renewable energy partnerships in the solar, wind, bioenergy and geothermal energy sectors.
