|
 On Thursday, the Open Working Group (OWG) on Sustainable Development Goals continued consideration of the “zero draft” of the goals and their potential targets. Informal discussions commenced in the morning on proposed goal 15: Protect and restore terrestrial ecosystems and halt all biodiversity loss. In the afternoon, the OWG turned to proposed goal 16: Achieve peaceful and inclusive societies, rule of law, effective and capable institutions. This proposed goal contains two subheadings: Fostering peaceful and inclusive societies; and Rule of law, effective and capable institutions. Discussions on proposed goal 16 continued in an evening session. While there was strong support to maintain proposed goal 15 as a stand-alone goal, there does not appear to be a similar consensus emerging on proposed goal 16.
