The Inter-regional preparatory meeting for the Third International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS) follows the three regional meetings held to discuss and identify regional priorities and concerns. The Inter-Regional Preparatory Meeting will bring together the three SIDS regions – Caribbean, Pacific and the Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean and South China Seas (AIMS) – to examine new and emerging challenges and opportunities for the sustainable development of SIDS and addressing and identify common objectives and priorities for future development. The meeting will also take stock of achievements made over the last 20 years and provide an opportunity to showcase SIDS’ progress since 1994. Parties will also finalize the text for the zero draft, which will form the basis of text for negotiation for the third International Conference on the Sustainable Development of SIDS to be held in Apia, Samoa, in September 2014.
