 The seventh meeting of the CBD Conference of the Parties serving as Meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (COP/MOP 7) will convene 29 September to 3 October 2014 at the
Alpensia Convention Center in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province, Republic of Korea.
The meeting will address substantive issues arising from the programme of work and previous COP-MOP decisions, including: handling, transport, packaging and identification (HTPI) of living modified organisms (LMOs); the Nagoya-Kuala Lumpur Supplementary Protocol on Liability and Redress; risk assessment and risk management; socio-economic considerations; monitoring and reporting; the second assessment and review of the Protocol’s effectiveness; unintentional transboundary movements and emergency measures; and contained use of LMOs.
The meeting will also hold a special session on implementation to share views and exchange experiences in the implementation of the Cartagena Protocol focusing on ways to improve the integration of biosafety into relevant national development plans, policies and programmes, and mobilizing additional resources for implementation.
