Nature for Life

24-28 September 2020 | Virtual

This series of virtual events focuses on how protecting, restoring and sustainably managing nature can help us achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Each day will culminate in key messages to be fed into UN biodiversity-related discussions. On SDG Day, participants will consider mitigating climate change strategies, how nature can help to prevent disease and improve food security, building long-term water security through nature-based solutions, and ensuring nature-based livelihoods. During virtual sessions on Business and Finance Day, discussants will consider how to transform financial systems and redirect finance and investments in order to accelerate nature-based solutions, and accelerate the creation of a nature-based planetary safety net.

On Global Ambition Day, sessions will unpack the ‘what,’ the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ of constructing a nature-based safety net as a solution to the current planetary emergency of a nature crisis, a biodiversity crisis, a health crisis, and an inequality crisis.

IISD, through its Earth Negotiations Bulletin (ENB) Meeting Coverage, will produce daily digital coverage from the event “Nature for Life.” Kindly return to this page on Thursday, 24 September 2020, for more information.
