Bonn Climate Change Talks - August 2009

10-14 August 2009 | Bonn, Germany

Highlights for Friday, 14 August 2009

On Friday afternoon, AWG-KP closing meeting convened. AWG-KP Chair John Ashe (Antigua and Barbuda) invited summaries from the facilitators of the informal subgroups on Annex I parties' emissions reductions beyond 2012, potential consequences, and other issues, including land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) and the flexibility mechanisms. Chair Ashe explained that he would revise the documentation prepared for the informal session based on the non-papers reflecting the week's discussions. Closing the meeting, he underscored that “we will have to work twice as hard in Bangkok in six weeks.”
The AWG-LCA convened its closing plenary on Friday afternoon.  Chairs Zammit-Cutijar and Marcado reported on progress made under the AWG-LCA and the way forward.  Chair Zammit-Cutijar explained that work conducted in the informal groups would be harmonized and captured as a collection of “tools and ideas” in a revised document to facilitate negotiations in Bangkok on the revised negotiating text

Please return to this page on Monday, 17 August 2009 to access the summary and analysis of the meeting.

The AWG-LCA closed at 6:57pm, with 114 days remaining to COP-15 in Copenhagen.
