9:48 pm - CMP 8 completes its work and closes.

9:34 pm - COP 18 completes its work and closes.

7:30 pm - Joint COP and CMP plenary convenes to hear statements.

7:00 pm - The COP and CMP plenaries convened to adopt the package of decision known as the Doha Climate Gateway

2:55 pm - The informal plenary closes. The COP President indicates that the CMP closing plenary will resume shortly. The Secretariat calls for a number of Annex I parties listed in Protocol Annex B to submit their written consent for the adoption of Protocol amendments.

2:45 pm - The informal plenary resumes. The COP President stresses that there is no such thing as a "perfect text."

12:00 pm - COP/CMP Informal Plenary: Time to be Announced.

9:00 am - An informal plenary convenes at 8:15am and the COP President presents documents on KP amendments, second commitment period, finance, loss and damage and ADP as a package. Parties adjourn at 8:30 to consider the package and are asked to reconvene at 10:00 am.

3:25 am - Meeting to resume at 7:30 am for presentation of outcomes and work towards closure.

12:58 am - CMP closing plenary suspended. The COP President will undertake ministerial consultations. The next stocktaking meeting is currently scheduled for 2:00 am.

12:15 am - The COP closing plenary suspended. The CMP closing plenary convenes to adopt decisions already agreed by the parties.

11:00 pm - The COP President's informal stocktaking plenary postponed until 1:00 am.

10:19 pm - The ADP closing plenary concludes, forwarding text to the COP for further consideration.

7:45 pm - The ADP closing plenary convenes.

6:45 pm - The COP President's stocktaking plenary convenes. New informal ministerial consultations are announced on the AWG-LCA outcome. Various other informal consultations will also continue. The next informal stocktaking plenary is scheduled for 11 pm.

6:11 pm - AWG-LCA closing plenary concludes with agreement to forward text for further consideration by the COP.

On Monday morning, afternoon and evening, contact groups and informal consultations convened on a number of issues, including the agreed outcome of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA), item 3 under the Ad Hoc Working Group on Annex I Parties’ Further Commitments under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP) and workstreams 1 and 2 under the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP). On Monday evening, an informal stocktaking plenary by COP 18/CMP 8 President Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah (Qatar) also took place.

IISD Reporting Services’ “ENB” team is training a group of Qatar university students for conference and diplomatic reporting. Fahad bin Mohammed Al-Attiya, who is chair of the Qatar National Food Security Program and responsible for media coverage at COP 18, described the training as an ideal opportunity for valuable capacity building on conference reporting, stating that "this initiative will enable Qatar to build a core group of report writers that would be eligible to report at the many conferences to be hosted by the newly built Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha, in years to come.”

On Tuesday, delegates met for the opening plenaries of the AWG-KP, AWG-LCA and the ADP. Work under the SBI also resumed. Participants heard opening statements from negotiating groups and gave preliminary consideration to the various agenda items under these bodies. In addition, contact groups and informal consultations began on a range of issues across the various bodies, and many side events convened as well.

The United Nations Climate Change Conference in Doha, Qatar, opened on Monday morning, 26 November, at the Qatar National Convention Centre. Following an opening ceremony, during which Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah of Qatar was elected COP President, delegates gathered for the opening plenary meetings of the COP, CMP, SBI and SBSTA. A number of side events also convened.
