Global conflicts, economic uncertainty, energy security concerns and growing distrust among countries mean that multilateral cooperation continues to be strained. These tensions have been affecting climate change negotiations over the past year and will likely continue to influence what governments are willing to agree to at the UN Climate Change Conference in Antalya, which will mark the beginning of the second Global Stocktake under the Paris Agreement. Parties will also have to address mitigation, adaptation, finance, and just transition, among other issues.
