Eighteenth meeting of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna
and Flora (CITES) Plants Committee

Daily Highlights, Saturday 21 March 2009

The PC met in plenary throughout the day to hear and discuss the remainder of the working group reports. The PC made many recommendations, including to: exclude mahogany from Peru from the RST; maintain mahogany from Nicaragua in the RST; expand the mandate of the bigleaf mahogany working group to address cedar and rosewood; encourage all range states to list cedar and rosewood in Appendix III; and maintain the Appendix II listing for Tillandsia harrisii and the Appendix I listing of Podocarpus parlatorei.

PC Chair Clemente gaveled the meeting to a close at 6:23pm.
