2013 COPs Sustainable Synergies

Basel Convention COP11, Rotterdam Convention COP6, Stockholm Convention COP6, and the simultaneous ordinary meetings of the Conferences of the Parties to the three conventions convened for its second day on Monday, 29 April 2013.

In the morning, delegates completed their discussion on financial resources, and established a Contact Group on Technical Assistance and Financial Resources. They also discussed waste issues related to POPs.

During the afternoon, delegates discussed legal and compliance issues related to the three conventions.

The Contact Group on Budget and Synergies convened throughout the day. The Contact Group on Technical Assistance and Financial Resources met in the afternoon.

In the Contact Group on Budget and Synergies, participants considered, among other things: savings realized by synergies; the review of synergy arrangements; and budget scenarios.

Side Events
At lunch, delegates attended a side event on "New POPs, POPRC’s work and PFCs (perfluorinated chemicals)," organized by the POPRC and OECD/UNEP Global PFC Group.
Delegates attended a lunchtime side event on "IOMC Toolbox for Decision Making In Chemicals Management: How the IOMC Toolbox assists governments to implement the Conventions," organized by the Inter-Organization Programme for the Sound Management of Chemicals (IOMC).
