Highlights and images for 2 August 2021

Opening the second and final week, delegates continued their consideration of the Summary for Policymakers of the Working Group I (WG I) contribution to the Sixth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Three plenary sessions took place during the day, addressing:

• a subsection on changes in the climate system directly linked to global warming;
• a subsection on the impacts of global warming on the global water cycle;
• a subsection on natural drivers and internal variability; and
• a box on scenarios, climate models, and projections.

Some of these issues were taken up in plenary for the first time, while others had already received general comments and had then been addressed in author meetings, contact groups, and huddles.

In addition to the plenary sessions, author meetings convened on several of these subsections and three contact group sessions also took place.
