The 27th session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) opened on Monday morning. Following a high-level opening session, delegates turned their attention to the draft Synthesis Report (SYR) Summary for Policymakers (SPM) of the Fourth Assessment Report (AR4), addressing content and language in the first four pages of the revised document. At lunchtime, an informal presentation and discussion was held on text on “Reasons for Concern” in the SYR.  A contact group on figures convened in the evening, and a breakout group discussed tropical cyclone activity.
