Bonn Climate Change Conference - June 2014

The Bonn Climate Change Conference of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) continued on Saturday, 14 June. The Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP) convened in the morning in a contact group to continue discussions on workstream 2 (pre-2020 ambition) and to close the Technical Expert Meetings (TEMs), as well as to address other issues. On workstream 2, the contact group addressed ways to increase pre-2020 ambition and ideas for future TEMs, such as on carbon capture and storage, carbon pricing and transportation. On other issues, the ADP contact group discussed inter-relationships and cross-linkages between elements, and timing of various processes.

A number of informal consultations and contact groups under the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) and the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) also took place throughout the day.

The SBI closing plenary convened briefly in the evening to adopt conclusions on some items, and will reconvene in the morning to finish its work.

The ADP closing plenary was convened in the evening, ADP Co-Chair Kishan Kumarsingh (Trinidad and Tobago) summarized the work of the ADP at this session and outlined the work the Co-Chairs will undertake intersessionally in advance of the next meeting from 20-25 October 2014. The ADP closing plenary was suspended at 7:59 pm.
