UN General Assembly (UNGA) President Sam Kutesa addressed the plenary on Saturday at the third drafting session for the outcome document of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD3). He called on delegations to enter a “solutions and conciliatory mode” on remaining issues, and exercise maximum flexibility to overcome remaining differences. Kutesa said an agreed document was essential to bring hope to people and encourage high-level participation at the Addis conference. Plenary was then suspended, and an informal plenary was initiated to discuss the revised text circulated on 19 June, and slightly amended on Saturday morning to include paragraphs that had been inadvertently left out or misplaced. Following a reading of the document all day, where Co-Facilitators encouraged delegations to only highlight only redline issues, the informal plenary was suspended at 17:13 pm for informal consultations. At 7:16 pm, Co-Facilitator Pedersen briefed delegates, noting progress in informal discussions on outstanding sections of the text. He said work was going on in parallel to update text based on informal plenary discussions during the day. He announced another stocktaking plenary at 9:00 pm. |
