On the second day of the 62nd session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC-62) in Hangzhou, China, delegates gathered in sessions of IPCC’s Working Groups (WG I, II, and III) to finalize the outlines for their respective contributions to the seventh assessment cycle (AR7).
In the morning, WG I (assessing the physical science basis of climate change) held its 15th session to kick off discussions on the chapter outline for its report. Co-Chairs Xiaoye Zhang and Robert Vautard led the discussions.
In the afternoon, WG II, focusing on climate change impacts, adaptation, and vulnerability, convened its 13th session. Delegates discussed both the WG II report outline and the update to the 1994 IPCC Technical Guidelines for Assessing Climate Change Impacts and Adaptations. This session was facilitated by Bart van den Hurk and Winston Chow, WG II Co-Chairs.
WG III, addressing mitigation, met in its 15th session, with Jan Fuglestvedt (WG III Vice-Chair) and Joy Jacqueline Pereira (WG III Co-Chair) facilitating discussions.
The discussions across all three Working Groups are shaping the tone for their contributions to AR7. Discussions will continue on Wednesday as delegates refine their input for this important assessment cycle.
