After intense Working Group sessions, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) delegates returned to the IPCC-62 plenary on Thursday morning. The day began with discussions on which Expert Group Meetings and workshops should take place during the Seventh Assessment Cycle (AR7). These meetings are designed to explore emerging topics and areas where scientific consensus is still developing.
The Panel then turned to the outline of the Methodology Report on Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies, including Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage. This report is expected to be a key output of AR7, with publication slated for 2027.
In the afternoon and evening, all three Working Groups resumed their sessions, each following one after the other, continuing thorough deliberations on their respective contributions to AR7. Contact groups were held in the margins of the main sessions to address key issues of contention and push progress on critical topics.
