On the final scheduled day of the 62nd session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC-62), delegates worked through a packed agenda in plenary sessions, Working Group sessions, contact groups, and informal huddles, aiming to resolve outstanding issues and finalize key decisions.
The agenda included agreeing to the outlines and implementation plans for the three Working Group contributions to the 7th Assessment Cycle (on climate science, adaptation, and mitigation), and returning to plenary discussions on several outstanding items of IPCC-62. These included the time and location for the next IPCC session (IPCC-63) and the proposed Expert Group Meetings and Workshops. Delegates also discussed the Methodology Report on Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies, Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage, as well as various IPCC progress reports.
Discussions continued into the evening, night, and following day, overrunning their scheduled time by 30 hours.
Working Group I’s 15th session, Working Group II’s 13th session, and Working Group III’s 15th session closed in the late morning on Saturday. IPCC-62 finally concluded at 22:35 on Saturday.
