CRC members and observers review the draft decision on polychlorinated naphthalenes.
CRC-10POPRC-10On Friday, 24 October, 2014, the CRC met for its third and final day. In the morning, the Committee adopted its rationale explaining that the Canadian notification of final regulatory action on polychlorinated naphthalenes meets the criteria in Annex II of the Rotterdam Convention. The Secretariat introduced members to an online Roster of Experts currently under development, which will provide information on the experts that have been nominated to various committees under the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions.

Later in the morning, participants attended a side event titled “Using the Inter-Organization Programme for the Sound Management of Chemicals (IOMC) Toolbox to Achieve the 2020 Goal.” The Toolbox is an online tool to help countries identify appropriate national actions to address their specific concerns related to chemicals management.

After the side event, Committee members adopted the report of the meeting and approved the date and venue of the next meeting. Christine Fuell, FAO, thanked members for their efforts and positive contributions to promoting farmer safety and food security. Giving members "extra work" to go home and explore ways to encourage more notifications of final regulatory action, Chair Helbig gaveled the meeting to a close at 1:08pm.
