  The tenth meeting of the Chemical Review Committee (CRC-10) to the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent (PIC) Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade will convene 22-24 October 2014 in Rome, Italy. This meeting will be back-to-back with the Tenth meeting of the Persistent Organic Pollutants Review Committee (POPRC-10) to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) which will meet 27-30 October 2014.
CRC-10 will consider the draft decision guidance documents for methamidophos and fenthion, which could include recommendations to the seventh meeting of Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention to list methamidophos as a pesticide and fenthion as a severely hazardous pesticide formulation in Annex III of the Convention. The Committee with also review the notifications of final regulatory action for polychlorinated naphthalenes, short-chain chlorinated paraffins, and tributyltin compounds.
POPRC-10 will review the draft risk management evaluation on pentachlorophenol (PCP) and its salts and esters, with an aim to recommending that the seventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention list PCP and its salts and esters in Annexes A, B and/or C of the Convention. POPRC-10 will also review the draft risk profile on decabromodiphenyl ether and reconsider the proposal for listing dicofol in Annex A, B, and/or C to the Stockholm Convention, which was discussed at the Committee’s ninth meeting. The Committee will also consider the continued need for the various acceptable purposes and specific exemptions for perfluorooctane sulfonic acid, its salts and perfluorooctane sulfonyl fluoride to assist COP-7 in its evaluation of this matter.
