The thirty-fourth meeting of the Open-ended Working Group (OEWG 34) of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer will be held from 14-18 July 2014 in Paris, France. The meeting will be preceded by the Workshop on Hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) Management from 11-12 July 2014.
The OEWG is expected to consider, inter alia: issues related to Article 2 of the Protocol, including nominations for essential-use exemptions for 2015and nominations for critical-use exemptions for 2015 and 2016; and the 2014 Technology and Economic Assessment Panel (TEAP) progress report, the TEAP report on the 2015-2017 replenishment of the Multilateral Fund and organizational issues related to the TEAP. Parties will also hear an update on liaison of the Secretariat with the organizers of the Third International Conference on Small Island Developing States regarding implementation of the Montreal Protocol by those States. They will also take up the proposed amendments to the Protocol.
The Workshop on HFC Management will afford Parties the opportunity to hold discussions on HFC management around four aspects: technical; legal; financial and technology transfer; and policies and measures. The outcomes of the workshop will be discussed by the OEWG.
