On Friday, delegates continued consideration of the Summary for Policymakers (SPM) of the Working Group II (WGII) contribution to the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), gathering in plenary sessions, contact groups, and “huddles.”

Two plenary sessions took place, with delegates conducting line-by-line discussions of the text on:

  • vulnerability and exposure of ecosystems and people;
  • near to mid-term risks; and
  • future adaptation options and their feasibility.

Delegates also heard reports on progress made in contact group discussions and huddles on various other subsections.

Two contact groups also met during the day, focusing on the section on climate-resilient development. Elements on which agreement was reached in contact groups or in huddles are then taken up for approval at the next available plenary session.
