On Friday, 1 April, Working Group III (WGIII) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) continued its line-by-line review of the draft text of the Summary for Policymakers (SPM) of the WGIII contribution to the IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report. WGIII focuses on mitigation of climate change.

With time running out for deliberations and significant work remaining, delegates met in three plenary sessions to review and approve text from across the SPM, including on: recent development and current trends; system transformations to limit global warming; linkages between mitigation, adaptation, and sustainable development; and strengthening the response.

In a contact group, delegates reviewed text on finance. Delegates also met in huddles throughout the day, working to reach agreement on sticking points in their deliberations. While IPCC-56 was originally scheduled to conclude by Friday, WGIII will continue working on Saturday, 2 April.
