On Tuesday, 29 March, Working Group III (WGIII) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) continued its review of the draft text of the Summary for Policymakers of the WGIII contribution to the IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report, on mitigation of climate change.

Delegates met in two plenary sessions to review and approve text related to recent developments and current trends and system transformations to limit global warming.

In contact group meetings, delegates discussed sections and subsections in the SPM relating to, inter alia:

  •  GHG emissions trends and projections;
  •  mitigation options, potentials and associated costs;
  •  distributional impacts of enhanced mitigation actions; and
  •  pathway dynamics, patterns and transformations.

WGIII will continue its work on Wednesday, 30 March.
