On Saturday, 2 April, Working Group III (WGIII) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) continued its line-by-line review of the draft text of the Summary for Policymakers (SPM) of the WGIII contribution to the IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report. WGIII focuses on mitigation of climate change.

Delegates met in four plenary sessions to review and approve text from across the SPM, including: recent developments and current trends; system transformations to limit global warming; linkages between mitigation, adaptation, and sustainable development; and strengthening the response.

In a contact group, delegates reviewed text on energy systems and lock-in from fossil fuel infrastructure. Delegates also met in huddles throughout the day, working to reach agreement on sticking points in their deliberations.

WGIII will continue working to complete the approval of the SPM.
